Corpus Christi is nurturing yet another up-and-coming musician. Xaq Dain is an innovative one-man rock band going by the name ALL7SAID.
ALL7SAID just received 2016 Album of the Year and Music Video of the Year honors, top 5 awards and an honorable mention for the latest album, “The Fallen.” The album received the 2016 Album of the Year Top 5 by Banks Radio Australia Music Awards.
ALL7SAID was selected as Artist of the Month for February 2017 in TalentRaters magazine at TalentRaters.com. According to the music charts on Reverbnation.com, an online platform that provides tools for both signed and unsigned musicians, ALL7SAID currently holds the No. 1 slot in Corpus Christi’s rock genre and No. 1 in South Texas, No. 100 on the national level and No. 122 on the global level. ALL7SAID’s music is featured in the United States, Japan, Russia, Greece, Canada and Australia with radio stations around the world conducting interviews with Xaq Dain (pronounced Zack Dayne) and his wife, Snowy Dysember, two to three times a week.
Dain is the award-winning wall of sound on his own. He writes and produces each song and performs all of the instruments and vocals. His musical influences include rock bands such as Staind, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains and Hellyeah.
"I've been in traditional rock bands before but decided I wanted a certain sound,” said Dain, who has been playing music since he was 4. “It was easier to record each instrument myself and lay down those tracks. I play drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitars and mountain dulcimer. Occasionally, I'll hire talented musicians to lay down extra tracks from what I’ve written to add their own unique playing styles.”
"The Fallen" is a rock tribute honoring the memory of loved ones lost to mass shootings and tragedies while also recognizing first responders — the military, police, firefighters, EMTs and all who serve.
The song's accompanying music video by Dysember, was produced almost entirely in Corpus Christi, showing familiar scenes such as the Harbor Bridge, Shoreline Drive, Cole Park and even the Veterans Cemetery in Calallen. The video was produced with the help of the Corpus Christi fire and police departments.
According to Dain, the song and music video have drawn attention from different organizations, such as the website serving United States military and veterans, www.military.com, which requested to host the video on its server.
“We all have families and loved ones,” Dain said. “I wanted to share the message of a nation in mourning that comes together to stand up and support each other.”
“The Fallen” is included in a compilation album of unsigned artists by AudioVein Entertainment titled “Letters to the Lost: A Compilation Album for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.” All profits from sales of that album benefit the foundation.
Dain credits Dysember for taking care of the visual arts, marketing and business side of ALL7SAID.
“My wife, Snowy, is a woman of many talents and is a large part of ALL7SAID,” he said. “In 2013, when I decided to leave my job in the oil and gas industry, which brought me here from Colorado in the first place, I decided to do music full time. Snowy built my in-home recording studio so I can work from home and be closer to her to care for her. We work very well together. I’ll share ideas with her as she helps me hone them into the music.”
Not having any prior knowledge of how the music industry works, Dysember had to do learn everything from scratch.
“It turns out, the books that I bought for research about the music industry were actually outdated because the music business has changed so dynamically just in the past few years,” Dysember said. “We realized we had to come up with a different strategy.”
The couple focused their energy on social media and purchased ads on Facebook to help draw more eyes — and ears — toward ALL7SAID. They cultivated friendships with local and online radio stations, journalists and trade magazines.
“What we noticed is that nowadays, old-fashioned values of common courtesy and appreciation have been forgotten,” Dain said. “So each time we get interviewed or interact with fans personally or over our social media pages, we do everything we can to express our gratitude and appreciation for them. We freely share our lives with the fans and update them on our daily events or humorous rants and raves. When ALL7SAID has a radio/media interview, we reciprocate and promote them to show our genuine appreciation. This strategy has helped us develop strong relationships with media outlets that appreciate what we do and refer us to their networks.”
Their attitude of gratitude extends not only to media outlets but also their regular daily lives.
“We let friends and acquaintances, even restaurants, know how much we appreciate them,” Dysember said. “And by sharing positivity out into the world, we get it back so many times in return.”
Dysember, who currently struggles with Lupus and other ailments that prevent her from being exposed to direct sunlight and electricity-emitting devices, does not let her physical afflictions stop her from living life to the fullest. She not only helps Dain with the music business, she is also pursuing her PhD in Natural Medicine and working on a healthy cookbook for those with restrictive diets.
In contrast to the hard, edgy sounds of “The Fallen,” track No. 11 features the mellow, acoustic song “I Know,” which Dain dedicated to his wife.
“Because of her physical pain associated with her illness, Snowy has to bathe in warm water each day to soothe her aches,” he said.
The daily ritual is made easier with music.
“Xaq often serenades me with the guitar to bring me comfort while I’m in my tub,” Dysember said. “That’s when we realized that the bathroom and even the bathwater had really great acoustics, so parts of ‘I Know’ were recorded in the bathroom.”
According to Dysember, when fans listen to ALL7SAID’s music, they are not just getting a song, they are getting a part of Xaq Dain.
“Music just flows out of him,” she said. “He writes songs not for the purpose of making a money-generating hit but because this is what flows from his heart and his mind, and the audience can hear that in his creations.”
Despite their growing success, the dynamic duo remains humble and appreciative and possess a great sense of humor, they freely share themselves with their fans on social media.
“I feel very privileged to have won these international music awards and have such amazing and supportive fans that enjoy the music and share it with their friends,” Dain said.
ALL7SAID’s new award-winning, full-length rock album “The Fallen” is available for streaming and download everywhere digital music is sold. The album cover artwork by Snowy Dysember was inspired by Xaq Dain’s Irish/Gaelic heritage. It features 7's stacked three times and interwoven in the symbol of an Irish Celtic knot with a three-pointed centered triangle. The physical CD humorously contains a secret message hidden on the cover and is available at ALL7SAID.com, Amazon.com or local music stores. “The Fallen” music video can be viewed on YouTube and has the distinct honor of being available on Military.com.
