The American Heart Association-Corpus Christi announced the 2022 nominees for its annual Woman of Impact award on Feb. 14. The winner will be named at the Corpus Christi Go Red for Women Luncheon on May 19.
Women are nominated annually based on their passion and drive to increase awareness and make a difference in their communities and for the Go Red for Women movement.
With the nomination, each woman is expected to lead an eight-week initiative to transform the health of women in Corpus Christi. The nominees will recruit a team to make a direct impact on women’s health and the AHA movement.
The 2022 nominees are:

  • Cindy Barrera, wealth advisor, Frost Bank
  • Marie Dickson, manager, Christian M. Dickson, DPM, PA
  • Amy Granberry, general manager, Port Royal Resort
  • Lisa Greenberg, criminal defense lawyer
  • Nancy Madsen, owner, Oh My Goodness Boutique
  • Sharon Sedwick, owner, ADI Promotion

In addition to conducting impact activities, nominees and their teams will set a goal and work together to raise money for the American Heart Association. Each activity and dollar raised gains the nominee "impact points." The nominee whose team makes the largest impact and has the highest number of impact points will be named the Corpus Christi Woman of Impact award winner. “These women have seen the need and are rising to the challenge to combat heart disease in women in Corpus Christi," said Erin Wilder, executive director for AHA-Corpus Christi. “By using their positions in the community and their local networks, they are in a unique position to further the mission of the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women movement through awareness, education, and fundraising. They are the embodiment of being a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives for all.”
Younger generations of women are less likely to be aware that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat. The American Heart Association encourages all women to take charge of their heart health.
Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s signature movement for heart health awareness. It harnesses the energy, passion, and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. The No. 1 killer of women, heart disease claims more women’s lives each year in the United States than all forms of cancer combined. The majority of cardiac events can be prevented.
