TIDAL SHIFT: TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-CORPUS CHRISTI EXHIBITIONS Through Sept. 17
In the fourth biennial exhibition shown at AMST, this presentation allows for both collective and individual perspectives. Each contributing artist, all members of the full-time Art Department faculty at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, will display personal artwork from his or her area of expertise. Works include paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, graphics and design. This exhibition is sponsored in part by TAMU-CC School of Arts, Media, and Communication.
THE OUTWIN 2016: AMERICAN PORTRAITURE TODAY
Through Sept. 10
A nationally juried exhibit of 43 works by artists from across the country organized by the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. The Art Museum of South Texas is the only Southwest region museum to host this exhibit of work that advances contemporary portraiture.

WILDLIFE IN FOCUS PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION Through Sept. 30
Full-color award-winning photographs from the 2015 Wildlife in Focus biennial photography competition displayed on art pillars along the Mary Hope Brennecke Nature Trail. The varied collection was shot by photographers partnering with South Texas landowners and judged in segmented categories of birds, mammals, invertebrates, reptiles/amphibians and specialties.

Along with his month-long show, ceramic artist Stan Irvin will teach a two-day “Pushing the Boundaries of Form and Surface” clay workshop Aug. 5 and 6. The workshop is intended for wheel throwers and hand builders and will involve printing on clay, the use of silkscreens and stencils as well as the use of altered wheel-thrown elements. SURF ART POP-UP GALLERY Through Aug. 15
In a first-ever exhibit of its kind in the Coastal Bend, this pop-up display features three nationally known surf artists. The works of John Olvey, Wade Koniakowsky and Jon Steele include their expressions of the ocean and beaches, to which all three have devoted their lives to preserving. A portion of the money raised will benefit the Texas Surf Museum. Also includes live painting workshops and demonstrations, gallery talks, original art signings and more.
