Best happy hours in Corpus Christi

Happy hours first began at sea in the 19th century, an appropriate start for a tradition that has taken Coastal Bend bars and restaurants by storm. Every venue has its version, but some of the best happy hours in Corpus Christi come with a few extras: Ferris wheels, surfboard tables, floating venues, and even ghosts.
1. The Post, 411 Doddridge St., Lamar Park shopping center
A hit with young professionals, The Post has a rustic, comfy feel with food a step above traditional bar fare. The bar itself boasts an inventory of beverages to rival any liquor store. The bartenders also know their craft and can mix up anything you can think up.
Happy hour runs from 5-7 p.m., making it a perfect stop for pre-dinner drinks and bites. Stay for dinner. The Post’s famous Heisenburger was voted the best burger in Texas by Texas Monthly magazine. We think so, too!
2. Water Street Oyster Bar, 309 N. Water St., downtown Corpus Christi
A great place for beer, wine, and oysters on the half-shell, it also features a special sushi happy hour every Monday-Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Start with the Waterstreet roll for some of the best sushi this side of Tokyo.
3. Scuttlebutt’s Seafood Bar & Grill, 14254 South Padre Island Drive at Commodores on The Island
You haven’t really experienced Corpus Christi’s Gulfside seashore until you’ve taken your sandy, sunburned self to Scuttlebutt’s for happy hour, which begins every day at 3 p.m. Drink and appetizer specials are the perfect way to end a day at the beach. Accommodates large groups.
4. Executive Surf Club, 306 N. Chaparral in the Water Street Market, downtown Corpus Christi
Grab an inside booth or surfboard or head outside to the patio. The Executive Surf Club rocks that local, laid-back relaxation vibe to the max. It also sports an extensive list of beers on tap, often features live music and serves up some of the best burgers in town. Celebrate Homegrown Wednesday with $3 Texas drafts, but you never know what specials they’ll think of next. “Like” them on Facebook to keep track. You don’t EVER want to miss Pet Pics with Surfin’ Santa!
5. Brewster Street Icehouse, 1724 N. Tancahua in the S.E.A. District
Enjoy the biggest deck in South Texas for happy hour with $2 pints and $5 Mexican martinis from 4-6 p.m. daily. You can even book a happy hour party! Live music almost every night, along with great bar food, either inside or out. A great place to grab a drink before heading to a Hooks game at Whataburger Field just across the parking lot or after a day at Hurricane Alley.
6. Blackbeard's on the Beach, 3117 E. Surfside Blvd. on North Beach
It’s happy hour all day every Sunday at Blackbeard’s on the Beach, one of two locations for this restaurant, bar, and live music venue. Happy hour is Monday-Saturday from 2:30-5:30 p.m. when you’ll find margaritas, pirate’s grog, a wide selection of beer, and a few ghosts.
7. Harrison’s Landing, 108 Peoples Street T-Head, downtown Marina
A full-service restaurant, bar, gift shop, and boutique right on the water. Schedule a bay tour on the Japonica while enjoying happy hour Monday-Thursday from 3-6 p.m. Next to the Selena Memorial on the seawall. Check the website for monthly drink specials and live music.
8. House of Rock, 511 Starr St. in downtown Corpus Christi
Live music, food, more than 80 beers, and daily happy hours. Don’t miss Free Fridays with giveaways and free live music. Daily happy hour specials are from 4-7 p.m.
