NOTE: I.B. Magee Beach has been closed for repairs since it was struck by Hurricane Harvey on Aug. 25, 2017. Check back for updates on when the park will reopen. Horace Caldwell Pier is open. Follow the progress on the park’s Facebook page.

I.B. Magee Park includes Horace Caldwell Pier, restrooms, bathhouses, and a variety of camping facilities. Open year-round, camping options include primitive as well as pads for RVs and tents complete with water and electrical hookups. Picnic sites across the park include tables and cabanas.

The pier juts out 1,240 feet into the Gulf of Mexico. A popular pier for fishing, concessions sell and rent bait and tackle as well as snacks and drinks.

The park’s entire 167 acres is under management of Nueces County Coastal Parks. Camping costs range from $12 a night for beach camping to $25 for 8 people and three vehicles at sites with water and electricity. Weekly and monthly rates are available as well. Call (361) 749-6117 for reservations.

Rules and regulations include:
• Small cooking fires permitted in metal containers.
• Camping in designated areas only
• Pets must be leashed.
• Only hook and line fishing permitted from pier.
• Glass containers prohibited.
• No driving or camping in the dunes.
• Destruction of vegetation prohibited.
• No driving within 50 feet of the water’s edge.
