Sing out your praises of “Alleluia, the Lord is risen, He is risen indeed” at any of a variety of Easter services in Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend this year. From an interactive passion play to Easter egg hunts and petting zoos to Taize meditation services, Coastal Bend churches have a service that will move and inspire you and your family during this season of spiritual renewal and hope.

EASTER SERVICES

Children in grades 2-5 bring fresh flowers Easter Sunday to transform a bare Lenten cross into a powerful, living symbol of the resurrection at First United Methodist Church, 900 Shoreline Blvd. in Corpus Christi. Decorating the cross is set for 9:45 a.m. in preparation for the 11 a.m. worship service, when the blossom-filled symbol of human salvation will be carried down the aisle of the sanctuary. After the service, kids are invited to bring their baskets and join in an Easter egg hunt on the front lawn. First United Methodist will hold three Easter services: traditional services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11:10 a.m.
Easter Sunday begins with a 10 a.m. Bible study for all ages at First Baptist Church, 3115 Ocean Drive in Corpus Christi. Two Easter services follow at 8:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
Enjoy a free pancake breakfast before the multiple Easter services at either of Solid Rock Church’s two Corpus Christi campuses. Easter services at the Yorktown Campus, 4922 Yorktown Blvd., are set for 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The Ayers Campus at 3035 Ayers St. adds a 6:45 a.m. sunrise service to its lineup. No pancakes before the sunrise service.
The Coastal Bend Family Worship Center has planned an Easter Egg-stravanganza following its 11 a.m. Easter Sunday service. The church is located at 700 W. Greenwood Ave. in Aransas Pass. The egg hunt is for ages 11 and younger. Currently, the church is taking egg donations for the hunt. Call the Worship Center at (361) 758-8221.
All Saint’s Episcopal Church is holding Taize services each Sunday at 5:30 p.m. during Lent. These 30-minute services of song, silence and contemplation will be held on the Labyrinth of the church at 3026 S. Staples St. in Corpus Christi. Taize services are set for March 11, 18 and 25. Services on Easter Sunday, April 1, will be held at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
After its 7 a.m. sunrise service on Whitecap Beach, Island Presbyterian Church, 104030 Fortuna Bay Drive on The Island, will hold an indoor service and communion at 10 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 1.
A “Triumphal Entry into Holy Week Celebration” begins at All Saint’s Episcopal Church, 3026 S. Staples St., on Palm Sunday, March 25. At 8 a.m., a palm procession will be led by a donkey. Service is at 10:15 a.m. followed by a petting zoo and other activities from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
The following Monday through Wednesday, the church will hold a Holy Eucharist service at 11:30 a.m. Maundy Thursday services begin at 6 p.m. “A Watch with Christ” overnight vigil will be held from 8 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday. The Stations of the Cross Labyrinth Walk will be noon-3 p.m. with a Good Friday service planned for 6 p.m. Holy Saturday. Fire and Story at City Church will be held at 7:30 p.m. And, Easter day begins with a 6:45 a.m. Easter sunrise service and 10:30 a.m. Easter Day services.
