The Christus Spohn Family Health Center Northside is no more. Patients have been notified that they will find the same services at the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center at 2606 Hospital Blvd. near Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial.
The Garcia clinic is about 2 miles from the northside clinic, which was located in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Most Hillcrest residents have already left the area because the new Harbor Bridge cuts right though it. Many are being bought out and relocated through a program set up by the Port of Corpus Christi, although more than 100 people still live there.
"An analysis of the patient volume at the Northside Family Health Center revealed a majority of patients live closer to either the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center or the Westside Family Health Center," said Steven Alford, regional public relations for Christus Health System South Texas in a news release. "Many are choosing a more central location to receive their care as the Northside Family Health Center sees decreased traffic."
Both of the providers at the northside clinic, along with their 2,000 patients, have moved to the Garcia clinic.
The building that housed the clinic was being leased from the city by the Nueces County Hospital District. It will probably be turned back over to the city sometime in the next six weeks. The parks and recreation department expressed an interest in making use of the property in the near future.
