Coastal Bend Day of Giving on Nov. 15 broke the record book. The eighth annual event designed to raise money for local charities collected $2,138,788. Last year, the fund drive raised $1.9 million. 
Seven counties participated in the Coastal Bend event with all but two of the 45 charities receiving full matching funds of $750,000. Matching funds provided $16,670 each to 43 charities with the remaining two receiving dollar-for-dollar matches for the money each raised. 
The event is hosted by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation and is conducted online over a 24-hour period.
