Three separate entertainment venues are coming soon to Aransas Pass: a skating rink, a bowling alley, and a movie theater.
The roller rink Sk8Land 2 is expected to open in June at 1920 W. Wheeler Ave. in the old Coastal Bend Skates location. As its name suggests, it is the second Sk8Land in the area. The original rink, Sk8Land Family Fun Center, is located at 10829 Leopard St. in the Calallen area of Corpus Christi. The rinks are co-owned by Victoria and Michael Ruiz and Raquel and Mike Rowland.
The 25,000-square-foot rink will feature LED lights, a smoke machine, a live DJ, arcade games, and a snack bar. The Corpus Christi rink is home to the CC Speed Skating Team. The team, which started in 2017, has 13 members, some of whom have competed in and placed at the U.S. National Speed Skating Championships.
Expected to open by Christmas, CM Lanes will bring bowling back to Aransas Pass. The new bowling alley will be located on property that was once home to Sully’s Bowling Lanes, which closed after Hurricane Harvey.
Owners Julie and Chris Coulter demolished the damaged building at 2285 W. Wheeler Ave. and are erecting a new 15,000-square-foot bowling alley with a sports bar, a restaurant, and private party rooms.
Movies Inc. at 1277 Texas 35 in Aransas Pass should be ready to screen its first first-run movies in early September, according to owners Mary Ann and Mark Farnsworth and their 27-year-old son, Zach. The 20,000-square-foot theater will have six screens and a beer and wine bar. The movieplex is the second for the Farnsworth family, which opened a four-screen theater in Calallen in 2014.
