Corpus Christi’s Best in the Biz awards were recently handed out in 10 categories. The three-month-long selection process culminated Dec. 6 at an awards banquet in the Solomon P. Ortiz Center. The awards are a project of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, which received more than 100 nominations. Winners were selected by voting members of the business community.
Following is a list of the awards, winners, and finalists:
HENRY BALDWIN AWARD
Given to an individual or organization for outstanding service to the community. Named after the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce's first chairman, Henry Baldwin, a builder, developer, and businessman.
WINNER: Robert Adler

DORA CERVERA MIRABAL WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP AWARD
Given to an individual who exemplifies the leadership qualities of Dora Cervera Mirabal and serves as an advocate for small minority- and women-owned businesses. 
Mirabal was a local businesswoman, author, poet, newspaper woman, and civic leader who went above and beyond to move her community ahead, promote entrepreneurship, and advocate for small minority- and women-owned businesses.
WINNER: Paulette Guajardo

BIG BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
Given to a large business that is a significant corporate citizen, friend of the chamber, and a partner to many organizations within the community.

Given to a small business that is a significant corporate citizen, friend of the chamber, and a partner to many organizations within the community.

NONPROFIT BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
Given to a not-for-profit business that is a significant corporate citizen, friend of the chamber, and a partner to many organizations within the community.

MILITARY VETERAN ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD
Given to a former military member who has made a successful transition from the military to the business world through an entrepreneurial endeavor.

SPIRIT OF THE CHAMBER FOUNDATION
Given to an individual or organization for outstanding support of the Chamber Foundation's programs and initiatives. Programs include Leadership Corpus Christi, Conquer the Coast, Mi Casa Es Su Casa, Lemonade Day Coastal Bend, and the Mano a Mano Scholarship Program.
