Head out to Whataburger Field for the Corpus Christi Hooks home opener April 13

The Corpus Christi Hooks will soon be back in town. The Double-A minor league team for the Houston Astros play its home opener at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, April 13 against the Arkansas Travelers.
In Whataburger Field World, that day of the week is known as Thirsty Thursday, offering discounted soda and beer. This year, Whataburger Field has a new lineup of concessions — including a mouth-watering chicken and waffle cones stuffed with mashed potatoes and fried chicken and drizzled with honey mustard. And, as always, you can get any item on the Whataburger menu at the Whataburgeer concession.
The first 1,000 fans to enter Whataburger Field Thursday will take home an Opening Day T-shirt sponsored by Mike Shaw Automotive. Upon exit, 5,000 fans will receive a magnetic season schedule from the the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
Arrive early to meet the new players with the formal 2017 team introductions. The National Anthem will be performed by the 90-member Rockport-Fulton High School Choir, along with choreography by the school’s Navy ROTC color guard.
After the game, stay around for a fireworks display!
