Assistance for housing, home repair, pets, and more in Corpus Christi on Aug. 28
The Corpus Christi Neighborhood Services Department will host its second Connections to Assistance event on Saturday, Aug. 28. Held in City Council District 4, it will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ethel Eyerly Senior Center, 654 Graham Road.
Connections to Assistance events are designed to assist working or recently out-of-work families gain immediate access to services and resources that support housing stability.
“The events are to be held throughout city, in every district, and scheduled every couple of months,” said Jennifer Buxton, assistant director of Neighborhood Services for Corpus Christi.
City staff and community partners will be on site to offer services including:
- rental assistance for residents experiencing housing instability due to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Safe at Home program for the elderly and disabled from Rising Tide Ministries
- minor home repair and downpayment assistance
- Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend employment assistance
- code enforcement and storm water information
- youth sports programs
- free microchipping for household pets
- low-cost spay and neuter vouchers from PAAC
“I appreciate the community partners and city coming together to bring services to our residents and helping to support the Bluff community,” District 4 Councilor Greg Smith said.
Protocols will be in place at the event to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. This includes adhering to the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“We saw close to 75 people at our last event and will become bigger and stronger as we continue to have them,” Buxton said.
