Although the Corpus Christi Harbor Lights Festival has been canceled for 2020, ceremonies around the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree at Water’s Edge Park will go on — virtually.
Live music, special guests, and the traditional flipping of the switch will be broadcast live on Facebook and Instagram beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. You can watch on the city’s Facebook page or the Downtown Management District’s Facebook or Instagram pages.
“The holidays have always marked the season of coming together, and while we wish to do that this year, we all have take safe health precautions during COVID-19,” Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb said at a recent press conference announcing the virtual tree lighting. “This event will give us the chance to come together virtually and we are excited to continue to celebrate the holidays with this year’s H-E-B Christmas Tree.”This is the third year for the city’s new 66-foot holiday tree to light up the Water’s Edge Park at 602 S. Shoreline Blvd. in downtown Corpus Christi. Not all holiday events have been canceled due to COVID-19.
