Office hours have been cut for the Texas Department of Public Safety office at 3506 Twin River Blvd. The move is an effort to cut back on overtime costs.
The new hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday. Previously, it was open 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday.
The office opened in its new location at 3506 Twin River Blvd. in January 2015, moving the department from a previous location on South Padre Island Drive. A main feature of the new facility is the ability to get in line online before arriving at the office. To register for a place in line, visit dps.texas.gov. Click on the yellow sticky note at the top, then enter your ZIP code, and it will take you to the proper location online for signing in
For registration and titles, Nueces County residents can use the downtown location at 901 Leopard St., Room 301. This location does not handle driver’s licenses or ID card transactions. Hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
