Dave and Buster’s is coming to Corpus Christi, soon to take over an 18,000-square-foot space in La Palmera mall. The restaurant and game center plans to open near the mall’s main entrance before the 2018 holiday season gets underway. This will be the first Dave and Buster’s in the Corpus Christi market.
“Dave and Buster’s will be a great addition to La Palmera,” said Fred Walters, vice president and general manager of La Palmera, in a news release. “It’s exciting that we’ll have this whole new element of dining and entertainment available for our guests, and it’s the first of many such options we’ll be announcing as part of our ongoing mall redevelopment.”
The menu includes traditional fare, such as wings, steaks and burgers, along with the unusual, including chicken and waffle sliders, ancho Caesar lettuce wraps and the caveman combo: pork ribs, french fries and mini-cheeseburgers on sticks.
The game room includes Super Shot basketball; Star Trek Arcade (only at Dave and Buster’s); Typhoon, a simulated roller coaster ride; Star Wars Battle Pod; Grand Piano Keys; and much more. Billiards and bowling are also available as is Dance Dance Revolution.
If you just want to watch the game on TV, massive HDTVs with stadium sound are carefully located so you can sit and enjoy over an innovative Dave and Buster’s drink.
The venue rents space for parties of all kinds from business to birthdays.
By the way, Dave and Buster are real. In 1978, James “Buster” Corely opened a bar and restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas, called Buster’s. Dave Corriveau, an entertainment executive, owned Cash McCool’s, a saloon and game parlor next door to Buster’s. The two decided to blend their businesses and opened their first combo restaurant/game center in 1982 in Dallas, where Dave and Buster’s is headquartered.
As of March 2018, 108 locations are operating across the nation along with two in Canada. The company is now publicly traded. Corriveau died in 2015 at the age of 63. Corley is still involved with the company.
