Texas A&M-Corpus Christi holds free women’s event March 29

Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health to address mental health

The public is invited to Day of the Woman from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi University Center Ballroom. Hosted by the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health, the 2022 event will focus on mental health. 
The featured speaker is Dr. Leanne Young, Ph.D., executive director of the Brain Performance Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas. 
Other scheduled speakers include Dr. Amy Stark, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine, and Tim Tate, M.S., licensed professional counselor at South Texas Mental Health Associates in Corpus Christi.
According to the National Institutes of Health 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, mental illness affects 25.8 percent of women. 
The free event will feature pop-up markets and complimentary refreshments, door prizes, and giveaways.
Registration is advised for the event at laurabushinsititute.org. Free parking will be offered at the Jellyfish parking lot on campus.
Day of the Woman is part of an ongoing effort by the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health to encourage and empower women to take control of their unique health care needs.
