It all boils down to customer service at an insurance agency: The relationship with clients is, above all else, the most important thing to the business, said agent Dennis Trevino Sr. of a Farmers Insurance branch in Corpus Christi.
“You have to be there when the client needs you,” Trevino asserted.
What sets him apart from the big-box insurance companies is he has customer service on the ground.
“People want to talk to an agent,” he said. “They don’t want to talk to a phone, dial one, and be put on hold listening to waiting music.”
Great customer service is a tenant of Farmers Insurance and part of the culture. Trevino’s staff of three, including his wife and son, are always prepared to be the solution to a client’s problem, ready to drop everything they’re doing to help.
Trevino’s father was an entrepreneur who had his hands in several small businesses such as a garage, a paint and body shop, two bars, and more. His business streak was hereditary, and Trevino was inspired to obtain his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration.
For the past 24 years, Trevino and his staff have been helping clients identify the insurance coverage that best fits their needs with a thorough explanation of their coverage options from auto and home to renters and business.
Trevino has been in Corpus Christi for more than 60 years and has become one with the city’s community. He has served on city boards such as traffic safety advisory and parks and recreation. He’s coached little league basketball, soccer, and baseball.
He served on the board of Habitat for Humanity and was chairman of SERCO, a program that trains low-skill workers so they can find jobs.
“I’ve been involved with this community as long as I can remember. I’ve helped campaigns; I’ve donated heavily,” he said. “I absolutely care about the community.”
The people in Corpus Christi are the core of Trevino’s work. He enjoys meeting and talking to people and helping those in need during difficult times in their lives.
“I love Corpus Christi,” he said. “I grew up here, and I wouldn’t leave here for anything. This is my home.”
