Boys and Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend is accepting school supplies at any fire station in Corpus Christi
The summer has come to a close for students enrolled in Corpus Christi Independent School District as school begins Tuesday, Aug. 10.
To help kids in need of supplies, City Councilor Ben Molina is asking the community to donate to the Prepped for Success School Supplies Drive in Corpus Christi. Supplies can be dropped off at any fire station in the city through Wednesday, Aug. 11.
Pencils, crayons, paper, binders, backpacks, and other supplies typically found in the school supplies section of stores are all welcomed and needed.
“Every child in our city deserves to walk into the first day of school with a new backpack and any supplies they could possibly need,” Molina said.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend will distribute the school supplies to students enrolled in the school districts the organization serves.
“Given the challenging year that so many of the students in Corpus Christi had in 2020-21, we want to make sure that having something as simple as notebook paper and sharpened pencils is the least of their worries,” Molina said. “And, we’re asking the community to really step up and give some donations that would be really meaningful for our most underserved populations in the Coastal Bend.”
The mission of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend is to enable all young people, especially those who need it the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
