One hundred people camping out overnight at the newest Chick-fil-A restaurant in Corpus Christi will win a year of free meals. The newest franchise opens July 12 at 5929 Saratoga Blvd., complete with a “First 100” party in the parking lot 24 hours before Grand Opening ceremonies.
The family-friendly overnight event begins at 6 a.m. July 11. Participants in the giveaway must remain in a designated area at the restaurant during the entire party period to receive a prize. Participants are given a numbered wristband, and if more than 100 show up at 6 a.m., July 11, a drawing will be held to determine which 100 will be camping out for the prize. Complete rules and details for those eligible for the year of free meals can be found here.
Owners of the city's fifth Chick-fil-A, Kevin Sharp and his wife, Maria are new to the Corpus Christi area but not to being small-business owners or community supporters. Kevin Sharp spent 23 years with Nalco Champion and 15 years as a business owner. He has received several business awards and was founder of Businesses Without Borders, an organization that works to help others make a difference in the world.
“We’re not just in the chicken business; we’re in the people business,” Sharp said. “Our goal is to provide a remarkable experience for every customer, every time, by serving food our guests can truly feel good about eating, providing sincere hospitality, and being a good neighbor.”
Giving back to the community begins with the First 100 party, which will include a children’s book drive. Sharp is asking donations for new and gently used children’s books, which will be given to Moore Elementary School
Chick-fil-A receives nearly 40,000 applications a year for the 100 new franchise opportunities available.
Chick-fil-A has been holding First 100 celebrations for 14 years now and has given away more than $34 million in free food through 2017.
