Freedom Boat Club opens new location at Marker 37 Marina
The world’s largest and oldest boat club, the Freedom Boat Club, recently opened a new location at Corpus Christi’s Marker 37 Marina. Based out of Venice, Florida, Freedom Boat Club has over 275 locations in 33 states, Canada, and Europe. The Corpus Christi location, which opened its doors on April 23, is the first in the Coastal Bend and the 11th location in Texas.
Veteran franchisor, entrepreneur, avid recreational boater, and fisherman Steven Gordon owns and operates Freedom Boat Club Corpus Christi. “I was introduced to Freedom Boat Club last summer after searching for activities to safely create memories with friends and family during the global pandemic,” Gordon said. “Growing up with a love for being on the water, Freedom was the answer to reignite my passion for the outdoors, and I saw tremendous opportunity to bring the boat sharing concept to one of the premier Texas Coast destinations at Marker 37 Marina.”
Members don’t need to own or maintain boats to enjoy boating. A One time entry fee and monthly dues give members access to thousands of boats in more than 275 locations. Members are also trained and insured and can choose three- and six-month plans.
Located on Sunset Island just below the causeway entry to North Padre Island, Marker 37 Marina has convenient access to boating in Corpus Christi Bay, Laguna Madre, Redfish Bay, Packery Channel, and the Gulf of Mexico, making it a premier Texas Coast destination for boating, sport fishing, and special events.
As a local attraction, the marina is home to a 600-foot pier and offers unobstructed views of sunsets over Corpus Christi. More than 60,000 square-feet of wooden decking and tables host live music in the summer. Visitors also can enjoy access to volleyball courts, shuffleboard, and cornhole games.
Snoopy’s Pier next door delivers seafood and beverages right to your table at the marina. A store for fishing enthusiasts offers outfitting, live and frozen bait, food, drinks, and a variety of tackle and boating supplies. “Joining Freedom last summer provided an escape, and I loved the convenience and hospitality of being able to boat where and when I wanted throughout the Freedom network of locations,” Gordon said. “My positive experience and the right time in my life led me to want to own my own franchise. I am thrilled to be launching Freedom Boat Club of Corpus Christi and look forward to sharing my passion for boating with the local community.”
