H-E-B stores are opening earlier and closing later beginning April 21 as improving supply chains make food and other items more readily available. H-E-B stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. until further notice, an additional three hours of shopping since hours were cut back to stop COVID-19 panic shopping.
Product limits are also being eased on some high-demand items as the availability of supplies increase and panic shopping begins to slow down.
Most H-E-B Pharmacies will continue to operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and delis and bakeries will increase their offerings.
“Our top priority remains protecting the health and safety of our Partners and customers,” announced the Texas-based grocery store chain in a media release April 21. “Even with our extended hours, our stores remain diligent in following H-E-B’s strict hygiene and sanitation measures as well as proper social distancing protocols.”
Current policy requires all public-facing employees, called Partners at H-E-B, to wear face masks. Cashiers are behind Plexiglass partitions at the checkout stands and crowd control guidelines, such as restricting the number of customers in the store at one time, are being followed.
Throughout the day, all stores are deep cleaned. Hard surfaces and fuel stations are sanitized as well.
“As we continue to monitor the spread of the pandemic, we are following guidance and advice from medical professionals and the Centers for Disease Control (and Prevention) to make the best decisions regarding the health and safety of our Partners, customers, and the communities we serve,” H-E-B announced.
