Site work is underway at 15401 South Padre Island Drive on North Padre Island Corpus Christi, which will soon become a hoppin’, shoppin’ hub just past the Waves Resort turnoff. Joining a planned IGA Grocery Store, HardKnocks Sports Grill will open a third Corpus Christi area location next door to the island’s first full grocer.
HardKnock owners and brothers Rod and Dick Lewis leased 7,800 square feet of space at what will be the Balli Center from owners Lori and Moshin Rasheed.
Infrastructure such as sewer, water, and stormwater drainage have taken a year to install because of the land, which is a wetlands area, according to Mohsin Rasheed. The Rasheeds had hoped to have an operating store by now.
The shopping center will be a big boost to Islanders who have had to go OTB (over the bridge) to Flour Bluff for groceries.
