Senior citizens in the Meals on Wheels program will begin getting their COVID-19 vaccines Tuesday, Jan. 26. The Corpus Christi Fire Department will administer the vaccines to homebound elderly in the program.
The Senior Vaccination Program received its first 200 doses of the vaccine, which will be distributed to 80-100 people a day. More vaccines have been requested.
“Together with City Council, I will continue to work on obtaining more vaccinations within the city limits of Corpus Christi to better serve our residents,” Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo said. “This is an important program for our senior citizens and the disabled. More vaccination opportunities are coming, and we thank our residents for their patience.”
On the same day the senior program began, people in the Coastal Bend region lined up to receive 5,000 vaccines at the mega-drive-through center in Robstown
All the vaccinations are free.
