Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches is coming to Corpus Christi. Promising freaky fresh, made-from-scratch sandwiches, the national chain restaurant will be located at 5625 Saratoga Blvd. in early January. Applications for the 30 to 35 jobs now available are being taken on site as renovations of the company’s new space continues.
Franchise owner Kyle Newth, who just moved to Corpus Christi, promised preservative-free meats and fresh, local vegetables. Fresh bread is baked every four hours, he said. Jimmy John’s promises freaky fast delivery in 10 minutes. The company limits the area for delivery so it can meet that standard, said the company founder.
Jimmy John Liautaud opened the first Jimmy John’s in his hometown of Chicago in 1983, one year after graduating from high school. By 1994, he had 10 sub shops open. Currently, 2,500 restaurants are serving up subs in 46 states, according to Wikipedia.
“[Jimmy John’s is] about the pursuit of awesome,” Liautaud says on his website in a letter to future franchisers. “It’s about helping people help themselves; it’s about transparency. It’s not easy, but it’s real, it’s what we love, and it’s what we know.”
The sandwich shop joins a string of other chains recently opened or planned for Corpus Christi: Grub Burger Bar, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Chuy’s and Alamo Drafthouse.
