Shorty’s Place in Port Aransas bills itself as the “oldest and friendliest” bar on the island. Regulars stop by the distinctive little bar to visit with friends and watch live music under a low ceiling hung with hundreds of old, well-loved baseball caps. Tourists wander in to participate in local nostalgia, and wind up making friends with the bartenders and locals.
“Shorty's has been there forever, and it's like a little hometown hangout!!” writes Google Local Guide Michelle Demarchi. “Great prices, and great variety of music, and they have pool tables."
Veronica Miller recommends Shorty's Place for its fun, laid back atmosphere. “We've been going there for years, and it doesn't matter if you're a local or a tourist, it's a fun, cool, easy place to hang out. Just a good time. The ceiling itself tells stories,” she writes on Facebook.
