Thirty downtown businesses are participating in the 2021 Mayor's Merriest Downtown Decor Contest. People's Choice voting has begun, and you can vote on Facebook for your favorites. “LIKE” the photo to cast your vote.
Sponsored by NEC Co-op Energy, the People’s Choice contest categories include:
- Holiday Champion — Best Overall ($500 cash prize)
- Best Exterior ($700 cash prize)
- Interior Champion ($500 cash prize)
In addition to the People’s Choice competition, judging took place on Dec. 2 for the following additional categories:
- Best Use of Lights
- Best Big Building
- Best Window Display
- Best Window Paint
Trophies and prizes will be awarded at the first Corpus Christi City Council meeting in 2022.
Participants needed to register by Nov. 12. Official rules included requirements that businesses keep up their decorations and lights from Dec. 2 -Jan. 1 and lights be turned on by 5 p.m. daily. Participants can only win one cash prize.
