One of the largest land parcels available in the Port of Corpus Christi now has a broker to market its access to rail, water and highways. A 230-acre industrial site on Business Interstate 35, Rockport Terminals will be represented exclusively by NAI Partners, a real estate firm based in Houston.
The area is being redeveloped by Clayton Reaser, a San Antonio-based oil and gas entrepreneur. The renovation includes more than 1 mile of rail and storage for 45,000 barrels. Its 1,200 feet of bulkhead has the capacity to fit six, 30,000-barrel barges.
“This project has been more than five years in the making,” said Reaser in a statement. “The opportunity to develop an economic vehicle of growth in an area often overlooked in favor of busier industrial centers has made this one of the more exciting developments we’ve spearheaded to date.”
The land has been vacant since 2009 and was once home to a World War II-era manufacturing plant.
“Rockport Terminals represents a unique opportunity to develop one of the largest private intermodal facilities on the Texas Gulf Coast,” Reaser continued.
A transition process will involve working with environmental consultants and contractors to insure minimal impact on any infrastructure improvements or business development at the facility.
“Once remediation completes and development is in full effect, Rockport Terminals will be a contributor to job growth, economic activity and local and county tax revenue,” Reaser said. “What had previously been seen as a liability to the community will turn into a positive asset of progress.”
Industrial sales professionals marketing the listing are John Ferruzzo, Nick Peterson and Ryan Searle. The three-man team is joined by Blue Brooks of NAI Blue Market, a local expert in the field.
