Hop on the bus, Gus, we’re going to Port A.
A pilot program of the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority began Friday, May 24, designed to make it easy and cheap to travel between the city, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, and Port Aransas. Route 95, with stops in cities along the way, operates until Labor Day, September 2.
The Port Aransas Express was established after a survey of island businesses revealed that many of their employees lived in Aransas Pass and Ingleside without reliable transportation to their jobs.
"With transportation no longer a barrier to employment, our residents are now empowered and directly contributing to the local economy," said Jorge Cruz-Aedo, chief executive officer for the CCRTA. "That benefits us all."
The bus used on the route, which includes stops near the H-E-Bs in Ingleside and Aransas Pass, is a cutaway van that can seat up to 13 people. Cost is 75 cents, a small price to pay for not having to wait in line for the ferry on Texas 361. Buses get priority loading.
