When the Corpus Christi Hooks take the field for the 2017 season April 13, fans in the stands at Whataburger Field will find a new lineup of concessions. Aramark, which provides the concessions at Minute Maid Park in Houston, where the Astros play, has taken over Whataburger Field, promising significant improvements in food quality and service.
"Aramark has been a great partner of the Astros at Minute Maid Park,” said Marcel Braithwaite, Astros senior vice president of Business Operations. “They continue to raise the bar season after season. We look forward to replicating that success in Corpus Christi."
The most noticeable menu upgrade will be the addition of the chicken and waffle cone stuffed with mashed potatoes and fried chicken and drizzled with honey mustard. It became a fan favorite after its debut at Minute Maid Park a few seasons ago.
In addition, the Hooks have entered a three-year deal with Nolan Ryan Beef, which is expanding its top-of-the-line hot dog, sausage, beef and jerky offerings at the ballpark as the “Official Beef” of the Hooks.
"We are very excited to be the Official Beef of the Corpus Christi Hooks,” said Perry Coughlin, president and CEO of Nolan Ryan Beef. “Fans will be able to try a variety of our products at the concession stands such as all-beef hot dogs, sausage and our brand-new item, Texas Beef Jerky, while enjoying a great game.”
The AA Hooks squad is the farm team of the Astros, both of which are partially owned by former pitching great Nolan Ryan.
One thing that will not change in the concessions, however, is the presence of Whataburger restaurant fare. Fans will still be able to order from a full Whataburger menu at every Hooks game. Phew!
