RV Insight named Padre Island National Seashore one of the “8 Top Beaches with RV Access” in an article posted in July 2023. The story gives PINS, at No. 4, high marks for “stellar beachfront accessibility” and “plenty of areas for fishing and birdwatching.”
Padre Island National Seashore has 75-plus developed tent/RV sites at two campgrounds and allows camping on almost all beach areas, although only four-wheel-drive vehicles are allowed south of Mile Marker 5. The park does not have electric or water hookups for RVs, but it maintains a dump and freshwater filling station near the entrance.
Earlier this year, PINS received plaudits from other quarters as well. In March, The Independent, a British newspaper, named it one of the “10 best under-the-radar beaches to visit in the United States.” Travel & Leisure, in January, cited the preserve’s Malaquite Beach as one of "The Best Texas Beaches for Every Kind of Traveler,” describing it as a “pristine destination.”
Through August, visitors to Padre Island National Seashore can view its most anticipated events: releases of sea turtle hatchlings for their short journey to the Gulf of Mexico. Call the Hatchling Hotline at 361-949-7163 for details. And visit the National Park Service's Padre Island National Seashore website to plan your trip to PINS.
