Padre Island National Seashore is considering adopting a beach management plan that could limit public access to turtle hatchling releases, a popular tourist attraction in the Coastal Bend that draws hundreds of people to dozens of events each summer.
The National Park Service is seeking public input on a variety of management changes, including rules that govern storm recovery, marine debris disposal, sand management, wildlife management for some species, and beach access for motor vehicles.
Three public meetings were held on Feb. 21, 22, and 23. Although the meetings have passed, people can still submit comments through March 14 for consideration in the decision-making process. Visit the National Park Service’s park planning webpage or mail comments to:
