ABC Painting and Drywall is once again taking nominations for Paint it Forward, a national program that helps a family in need paint the outside of their home. The Corpus Christi business is the first company in Texas to participate in the program, said ABC Painting owner Joe Solis Jr.
Solis and his wife, Debbie Hoffmann-Solis, work together to make the program happen.
“This is our way to give back to the community,” Solis told Corpus Christi Business News. “But it’s not just us. A lot of the guys are doing this. We are all volunteers.” 
The contribution equals $3,500 in free paint, labor and material. Last year, it was awarded to a 97-year-old woman who once saved a family from carbon fumes in their home. She was chosen from about 50 applications.
Nominations are being accepted through Sept. 30. A winner will be chosen in October and the home painted in early November. Nominees can include nonprofits as well as individuals.
“If you know of a family or nonprofit organization in need of a fresh coat of paint but can’t afford it, please nominate them,” Solis said. “A freshly painted building or home can brighten their outlook and bring a little painting happiness into their lives.”
Nominations should include photos and any supporting materials as well as a written answer to the question: Why do you believe this person or organization deserves a home makeover? Include nominee’s full name, address, phone number and email address. Also, include how you know the nominee.
