Vernon’s Bar-B-Que is a comfortable, well-loved dive bar with soul-satisfying food made from scratch. It’s regulars recommend coming on “Steak Night” as Thursday is known there. On nights and weekends, patrons gather around the bar, made from vintage bowling lanes, to enjoy cold beer and free popcorn and peanuts. Others play shuffleboard or visit on the patio.
Matt Donnell calls Vernon’s the “quintessential dive bar”. He loves the genuine, high spirited bartenders. “The bartenders can be angels or devils depending on your attitude and your mood,” he writes in his Google review. “There is [a] pool table, shuffleboard, a couple of arcade games. Complimentary popcorn and sometimes peanuts if you ask for them.”
Christian Britt recommends Vernon's on Facebook. “I always have fun relaxing at the old local bar. Always a fun mix of people that all get along. Definitely recommend it to any and everyone! And Thursday nights they have a ribeye steak cooked out on the bbq with baked potato and all the fixings!!” he shares. He also recommends the party room for functions and special events.
Popular menu items include the chef salad, chips and salsa, potato and egg taco, hamburgers, grilled chicken breast sandwiches, and steak. Vernon’s is located at 1030 3rd Street. It is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2a.m.
Vernon’s often has live music on the patio. To see a listing of past and upcoming shows, visit its Facebook page
