Have dinner and a movie at Peoples Restaurant, 9838 Up River Road in Corpus Christi.
“We have converted our restaurant into a Drive-in Movie theater showing older and new classics while at the same time providing excellent food and service,” the popular local restaurant recently announced on its Facebook page. “We will continue this until we feel it is safe for the community and us to return to our table side service.”
Pre-sales of tickets have sold out days in advance for movies such as “Grease,” “Big,” and “Toy Story 4.” Movies and available spaces are announced on the restaurant’s Facebook page. Tickets and available menu items can be found on the website.
The parking lot, which is set up for 39 movie spots, opens at 8 p.m., which is also the earliest drive-in movie food orders can be taken. The movie begins at 8:45 p.m. and can be heard by tuning the vehicle radio to FM 88.5. Tickets are $12 per vehicle and food must be ordered online sometime around 8:15 p.m.
Trivia games and prizes begin 15 minutes before the show.
Everyone must stay in their vehicle unless they need the restroom, which is sanitized between each use. A red light-green light system has been set up for the restroom facilities.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, patrons notify the restaurant so they can begin to prepare the orders. In case of bad weather, tickets are good for the next day.
