On New Year’s Day, brave swimmers and toe dippers meet on North Beach for the annual Polar Bear Plunge in Corpus Christi.
The festivities start in front of Fajitaville at 221 S. Hotel Place in North Beach. Sign up at polarbearplunge.cc.
Proceeds help ‘freeze out’ ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) by funding research for a cure. A free fun run is set for the same location at 11:15 a.m., which is a good way to warm up before plunging in!
11 a.m.
Venue opens and the mascot and banner will be available for photo ops. Polar bear hats, mittens and hoodies will be for sale, and 100 percent of proceeds go to ALS TDI.
