Houston-based renewable provider Rhythm to distribute Corpus Christi wind energy

Electricity customers in Corpus Christi can now purchase wind-generated power from the 81 turbines on Chapman Ranch. The $400 million Chapman Ranch project began providing electricity to the state’s power grid in August 2017.
The ranch hosts the wind farm just south of Corpus Christi. It generates close to 250 megawatts of wind energy a year, the equivalent of serving more than 64,000 Texas homes daily. The huge turbines catch the consistent coastal air from the Gulf of Mexico to generate electricity.
“We can use so much of the power of the wind and the sun in our state,” said Kosta Zujic, head of commercialization at Rhythm. “We can keep the state clean, at the same price.”
Of the power currently generated in Texas, 23 percent comes from wind farms, making the state a leader in wind power-generating capacity.
Rhythm is a Texas-based company that distributes only renewable energy. It partners with local wind and solar farms to place energy on the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid for distribution.
“Our Chapman Ranch wind energy plans give Texans a great opportunity to put their money where their heart is and empower more wind farms to be built across the state,” said P.J. Popovic, CEO of Rhythm. “Supporting a local, renewable energy generator is a great way to help Texas’ economy and the health of our planet.”
