Drive sober or get pulled over this New Year’s Eve. The Corpus Christi Police Department has made many DWI arrests this holiday season, with 22 on Christmas Day alone. The CCPD will be keeping a sharp eye out this “No Refusal” weekend.
“No Refusal” means that drivers pulled over with the suspicion of intoxication have no choice but to prove their sobriety: If drivers refuse to blow in a breathalyzer, they will be taken downtown and a warrant will be issued to have a blood test done.
The best way to approach major drinking holidays, is to get a safe ride home. Corpus Christi offers several services willing to be designated drivers.
Apollo Towing Service
Offering FREE rides 24 hours a day until Jan. 1. The company will service callers with a car to tow in Corpus Christi, Robstown and Portland. Call Apollo Towing Service at 361-853-0003.
Uber or Lyft
Download these ride share apps for a quick ride home. Surge pricing may be in place for the high holiday demand, but the increased fee is still cheaper than a DWI.
