Visitors to Fiesta de la Flor this year can have their picture taken with Selena. Yes, the wax figure unveiled last year at Madam Tussauds Hollywood will be on view and available for photos March 24-25 at the fourth annual Fiesta de la Flor, Corpus Christi’s homage to its hometown Latina superstar.
Dressed in her iconic rhinestone-studded black bra worn during a concert at Corpus Christi’s Memorial Coliseum, the Selena wax figure will share the spotlight with two Jackies, both known for their Selena devotion.
Jackie Guerra, who played Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla-Arriaga, in the movie “Selena,” will be on hand to celebrate and talk about how Selena inspired and changed her life. Joining Guerra will be Jackie Cruz, an actress in the cable-TV series “Orange is the New Black,” who made a tribute music video of Selena’s “Como La Flor.”
“I am excited to add this extra dimension to the festival, which we will keep growing every year,” Quintanilla-Arriaga said. “This helps to continue Selena’s legacy as an inspiration to so many people.”
The Convention and Visitors Bureau, which works with the Quintanilla family to put on the event each year, also announced the lineup of musical talent for the two-day event and confirmed the popular silent disco and expanded vendors market would continue. Food trucks will again be a part of the event, with a big announcement coming about that later this month.
