A free course to help veterans and their spouses achieve the American Dream of owning their own business begins in June at Del Mar College’s Small Business Development Center. 
SBDC StartSmart is an eight-week series designed to help participants evaluate and refine their business concepts, improve their knowledge of those concepts and research markets and competition. Students also will develop a financial forecast and a practical business plan. Everyone involved will receive ongoing consultation from SBDC professionals. 
The eight high-energy, interactive modules are:
• June 7 — Foundations for a Successful Business
• June 14 — Marketing Analysis and Research
• June 21 — Capturing the Market
• June 28 — Efficient Operations
• July 5 – Financial Foundations
• July 12 — Financial Plan
• July 19 — Bringing it All Together
• July 26 — Implementing and Presenting the Plan
Each module is 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Food and a workbook are provided.
