Texas SandFest on Mustang Island in Port Aransas moved the April celebration of all things sand to October 2-4.
"Texas SandFest Rain or Shine!" proclaims the 2020 SandFest website. COVID-19, however, has done what no storm can: Pushed SandFest from its moving spot in April — timed to low tides each year — to October.
The iconic festival of super sandcastle building will be held October 2-4 this year, still between mile markers 9-13 in Port Aransas on Mustang Island.
“Texas SandFest takes the wellbeing of our visitors, sculptors, volunteers, vendors, and sponsors seriously,” reads a news release from the SandFest organization. “In response to county, state and federal recommendations concerning COVID-19, Texas SandFest 2020 will not take place April 17-19, as originally scheduled.”
