All ages are invited to attend Third Thursday at the Art Museum of South Texas beginning Thursday, Dec. 16. Admission is free every third Thursday of the month from 5:30-9 p.m.
In addition to the free entry, live music and activities will add to the experience of seeing the museum’s works of art from an evening perspective.
Current temporary exhibits include “Influencers from the Collection,” “Rembrandt and the Jews: The Berger Print Collection,” “Thesauri/Treasures Latino/Latina,” “Mining the Minimal,” and “West Coast Sensibilities,” all from the AMST collection.
For those who cannot attend on Dec. 16, the museum is offering $1 admission through Dec. 31.
Situated on the water's edge of the Corpus Christi Bay, the AMST is an architectural masterpiece designed by Philip Johnson. A material called “shellcrete,” a combination of shells and concrete, makes up the exterior on the three-level structure.
A hearty permanent collection includes works by Georgia O’Keefe and Jackson Pollock.
Third Thursday is sponsored by Kleberg Bank at the museum, which is located at 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. in Corpus Christi.
