Early voting in the Nov. 6 mid-term elections begins Oct. 22 and ends Nov. 2. To vote in the election, you must be registered no later than Tuesday, Oct. 9.
The 2022 election season has not ended for Corpus Christi City Council candidates who failed to get 50.1 percent of the vote in the Nov. 8 election. Contenders for districts 1, 2, and 3 face runoffs in December after returns from the general election showed no one vying for those seats received a majority of the vote.
The Corpus Christi City Council made the results official on Nov. 21 when it approved the vote canvass.
In District 1, incumbent Billy Lerma faces bank executive Everett Roy. Lerma received 39.12 percent of votes cast to Roy’s 34.58 percent.
District 2’s contest pits part-time organizer Sylvia Campos, who had 42.1 percent, against title company executive and former Councilor Mike Scott, who had 43.39 percent.
District 3 incumbent Roland Barrera and towing company and entertainment venue owner Eric Cantu earned runoff slots with 41.38 percent and 46.99 percent, respectively.
The runoff election is Dec. 13 with early voting from Dec. 3-9.
