Three new businesses are opening in Corpus Christi, while one longtime retail operation is shutting down. Opening in La Palmera mall are a Kendra Scott jewelry store and a Steak ’n Shake hamburger restaurant. Shoreline Sandwich Co. is opening a third location, while World Market in Moore Plaza is selling off its inventory.
The new 1,600-square-foot Kendra Scott store is located on Center Court at La Palmera. It opened Friday, Feb. 2, but plans to hold a grand opening event in March. The shop includes Scott’s self-designed and handcrafted earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings and brooches. The shop also carries home decor and gift items.
The Steak ’n Shake hamburger chain will open a 910-square-foot restaurant in the La Palmera Cafes food court sometime in mid-February.
La Palmera is located at 5488 South Padre Island Drive in Corpus Christi.
Shoreline Sandwich Co. owner Kris Busk announced the opening of a third location for his locally owned and operated eatery. The first Shoreline opened in 2013 in the lobby of the PlainsCapital Bank Building at 500 N. Shoreline Blvd. downtown. The second location opened in 2015 in the 600 Building at 600 Leopard St. in Uptown.
Shoreline has opened its new Southside location, where it will serve its freshly made gourmet soups and salads from the lobby of the new Kleberg Bank building at 5350 S. Staples St. (at Williams Street).
In the not-so-good news department, the Cost Plus World Market in Moore Plaza at 5425 South Padre Island Drive is closing. Currently, it is holding an “inventory blowout” sale offering up to 30 percent off all merchandise.
Other World Market closings have been in Nampa, Idaho; Estero, Florida; and two in Chicago. World Markets in San Antonio, Austin, Houston and Dallas will remain open as part of the company’s more than 270 retail outlets in 35 states.
World Market sells unique, artisan products from around the world, including imported food items, furniture and household goods.
