Take a two-hour ghost tour of downtown Corpus Christi or go aboard the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay for a private tour of one of the most haunted places in America. The aircraft carrier was featured on Episode 12, Season 3 of the "Ghost Hunters" TV show.
The downtown tour happens every Friday this October. It is hosted by Enjoy Corpus Christi Tours LLC, which takes groups to more than 13 haunted downtown locations. Tours begin at 7:30 p.m.
The tour includes the perimeter of the old Nueces County Courthouse, which is believed to be haunted. The county had to fence in the crumbling building to keep out ghost hunters.
Locations on the tour are kept a secret except for the courthouse. The fun ends with a walk through a haunted building constructed in 1929.
Cost is $21 per person. For reservations, call 361-696-9006. Dates left are Oct. 10, 15, 24, and 31. Check the Facebook page for more information.
Reservations are needed for a paranormal tour of the USS Lexington as well. Known as the "Blue Ghost," the ship is home to a well-known sailor ghost who makes his presence known year-round. He and other shadowy figures have reportedly been seen both above and below deck.
Paranormal detection equipment will be available for a full investigation of each area on the ship, where ghostly activity has been recorded before.
If you’re brave enough, you can even stay overnight. To book your tour, call 361-888-5873 ext 305. The Paranormal Tour is $50 per person, and you must be 18 or older to attend. The overnight tour is $75 per person, maximum of eight people, plus $25 for the guide.
Paranormal and overnight tours run year-round on the USS Lexington.
