A drive-through COVID-19 vaccine clinic will administer 1,000 vaccinations on each of two days — Monday, Jan. 11, and Tuesday, Jan. 12 — at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, 1213 Terry Shamsie Boulevard in Robstown.

A drive-through COVID-19 vaccine clinic will administer 1,000 vaccinations on each of two days — Monday, Jan. 11, and Tuesday, Jan. 12 — at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, 1213 Terry Shamsie Boulevard in Robstown.

The COVID-19 vaccination process moves to Phase 1B individuals on Monday, Jan. 11, when 4,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine are expected to arrive in Corpus Christi. On-site registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at a drive-through clinic at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, 1213 Terry Shamsie Boulevard in Robstown. Eligible Phase 1A and 1B individuals will be vaccinated regardless of county residency.
The drive-through begins at noon depending on weather and vaccine delivery time. It will continue until 1,000 vaccines have been delivered and will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12. On each day, 500 vaccines will be given to those who have pre-registered online and to 500 first-come, first-served individuals.

The Nueces County Health Department released the following eligibility requirements for vaccines.
Phase 1A Eligible Persons include:
Healthcare Workers Definition First Tier 1

  1. Hospital staff working directly with patients who are positive or at high risk for COVID-19. Includes:
  2. Physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other support staff (custodial staff, etc.)
  3. Additional clinical staff providing supporting laboratory, pharmacy, diagnostic and/or rehabilitation services
  4. Long-term care staff working directly with vulnerable residents.
  5. Direct care providers at nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and state-supported living centers
  6. Physicians, nurses, personal care assistants, custodial, food service staff
  7. EMS providers who engage in 911 emergency services such as pre-hospital care and transport
  8. Home healthcare workers, including hospice care, who directly interface with vulnerable and high-risk patients
  9. Residents of long-term care facilities

Second Tier: Staff in outpatient care offices who interact with symptomatic patients.

  1. Physicians, nurses, and other support staff (custodial staff, etc.)
  2. Clinical staff providing diagnostic, laboratory and/rehabilitation services
  3. Non-911 transport for routine care
  4. Direct care staff in freestanding emergency medical care facilities and urgent care clinics
  5. Community pharmacy staff who might provide direct services to clients, including vaccination or testing for individuals who might have COVID-19
  6. Public health and emergency response staff directly involved in administration of COVID-19 testing and vaccinations
  7. Last responders who provide mortuary or death services to decedents with COVID-19. Includes:
  8. Embalmers and funeral home workers who have direct contact with decedents
  9. Medical examiners and other medical certifiers who have direct contact with decedents
  10. School nurses who provide health care to students and teachers

Phase 1B Eligible Persons include:

  1. People 65 years of age and older
  2. People 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19, such as, but not limited to:
  3. Cancer
  4. Chronic kidney disease
  5. COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  6. Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
  7. Solid organ transplantation
  8. Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher)
  9. Pregnancy
  10. Sickle cell disease
  11. Type 2 diabetes mellitus
