Contributions from WellMed employees in the Corpus Christi area matched with WellMed Medical Management money for a total of $125,000, which was donated by WellMed Charitable Foundation to several local charities.
Employees from all the markets served by WellMed regularly give up a portion of their paychecks to be redistributed in their home markets. Corpus Christi employees designated most of the money they collected — $85,000 — for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The rest will go to organizations that support caregivers and older adults.
Donations from WellMed are going to: Rebuilding Together, the American Red Cross, Wesley Community Center, the Salvation Army, Coastal Bend Food Bank, Area Agency on Aging of the Coastal Bend, Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group, Face to Face, and the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department.
Along with support that funds half of the operating budget for Zavala Senior Community Center at 510 Osage St., WellMed Charitable Foundation will have contributed about $500,000 to the Coastal Bend this year.
