To qualify for the 2017 Youth Sailing World Championship race in December in China, young sailors will have to make the grade in Corpus Christi on June 25-28 in the 2017 U.S. Youth Championships. Courtesy photo

More than 175 of America’s top young sailors will congregate in Corpus Christi June 24-28 to compete in the 2017 U.S. Youth Sailing Championships. The Corpus Christi Yacht Club hosts the qualifying event for the 2017 Youth Sailing World Championships for the second time since 2013. 
Male and female sailors under the age of 20 will race on Corpus Christi Bay over four days, Sunday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 28, competing in the highest levels of sailing in the world. Winners will have sailed their way into consideration for the U.S. Sailing Team and, ultimately, the Olympic Games. 
These top sailors also will be in the running for college sailing programs and All-American status. 
The youth championship event began in 1973 and is run by a team of experienced judges, coaches and race officers. The young talent in this regatta receive world-class management and support.

• Girls Doublehanded Dinghy – I 420 
• Boys Doublehanded Dinghy – I 420 
• Girls Skiff – 29er 
• Boys Skiff – 29er 
• Open Multihull – Nacra 15 
• Girls Singlehanded Dinghy – Laser Radial 
• Boys Singlehanded Dinghy – Laser Radial 
• Open Singlehanded Dinghy – Laser 
• Boys Windsurfer – Techno 293 Plus 
• Girls Windsurfer – Techno 293 Plus 
The 2017 Youth World Championships will be held Dec. 9-16 in China.
