First of three sailing championships begins June 24

The U.S. Finn National Championships sails into Corpus Christi Bay on Thursday, June 24, followed by the 2021 J/22 World Championship on July 17-23 and the 2023 J/24 World Championship. All three sailing competitions are being hosted by the Corpus Christi Yacht Club. Each of the competitions features a specific sailboat. The U.S. Finn race is all about the Finn, a single-handed sailboat that has competed in most Olympic games in the international competition’s history. The J/22 and J/23 are both what is known as J boats. They are named according to the various dimensions used to calculate an equivalent rating in feet, an important consideration when racing.
The 2021 Finn National Championships feature adult competitors from across the country competing in eight races throughout the weekend.
The public is invited to watch these competitors as they race along the city’s bayfront.
Practice races will begin Thursday at 3 p.m. The sailing competition will start at noon Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Races are expected to end at about 4 p.m. each day.
The 2021 Finn National Championships will end with an awards ceremony after the final race on Sunday at 5 p.m.
